FOR BETTER OR WORSE:
Banking and Communism
Lenin said, "Communism must be
built with non-Communist hands" (Wilber, 27). Tyranny can boast of no
economic successes. It has been the United States that has consistently
rescued Communism from oblivion. Remember the words of Robert McNamara:
"There are many ways to make the death rate increase" (Wilber, 28).
In 1922, Herbert Hoover rescued the weak Bolshevik
regime by sending food money (Lockman, 7).
In 1927, a United States oil company built a refinery in Russia and
loaned the Bolsheviks 75,000,000 "dollars" (Lockman, 7). Again, in 1928,
a New York bank sold Bolshevik bonds in the United States. This was
Russia's first Five-Year Plan, and it was financed by a United States
financial institution (Lockman, 7). By the end of the Second World War,
it was the boast of Stalin that two-thirds of the heavy industry in the
USSR was built by the United States (Lockman, 7).
When Germany's Nazis were fighting the atheistic
Communists, Franklin Delano Roosevelt gave Russia 11,000,000,000
"dollars" in "Lend Lease" to fight Hitler and which has never been
repaid (Stonehill, “Wants USA out of United Nations;” Augusta
Chronicle). Mr. Harry Hopkins, manager for the Lend Lease program, sent
Russia half of all America's uranium and the technology needed to build
an atomic bomb (Moore, Augusta Chronicle).
Alger Hiss, top State Department diplomat and adviser
to President Roosevelt, persuaded the President at the Yalta Conference
to give Eastern Europe to Stalin (“Shakespeare Knew,” Augusta
Chronicle). Mr. Hiss later became the Secretary-General of the United
Nations Organizing Conference (Moore, “Outlines”).
It is not possible that
Franklin Delano Roosevelt or Winston Churchill was ignorant of the fact
that Stalin deliberately starved to death millions of his countrymen in
order to solidify his hold on the country. How could these men callously
sit with the "Man of Steel", which his name signifies, and embrace him
as an "ally?" And is not the western world now suffering for such sins
of their fathers?
Hiss' State Department protégés successfully insisted
that the United States pressure. Chiang Kaishek to yield to a
coalition-government which resulted in the Communists gaining a foothold
in Peking (Moore, “Shakespeare Knew”). Owen Lattimore at the State
Department persuaded President Harry Truman to cut off aid to the
anti-Communist Chinese (Moore, “Outlines”) and afterwards convinced the
President to relieve General Douglas MacArthur of command. Mr. Lattimore
conceived the no-win policy in Korea, and the end is not in sight. The
United States adopted the same strategy in the Vietnam War, which
resulted in the fall of that country. Hiss-minded people are still in
Washington, D.C. and are pressuring Congress to adopt the same policy
toward Central America (Moore, “Shakespeare Knew”).
"Socialism: The Father of the Holocaust"
In an excellent editorial, Mr.
Walter Williams declared,
... German scholars such as Fichte,
Rodbertus, and Lassalle were not only the most important
contributors to Nazism, but acknowledged fathers of socialism.
According to them, the individual has no rights; just duties.
Another socialist architect of Nazism, Lensch, said "Socialism is
coming ... and to assist the growth of a new conception of state and
society ... socialism must present a determined opposition to
individualism." In Mein Kampf, in praise of the Aryan,
Hitler said, "He willingly subordinates his own ego to the
community...."
... The Catholic bishops in their "Pastoral Letter"...said "It is
the very essence of social justice to demand from each individual
all that is necessary for the common good."
The basic requirement of socialism ...is the subordination of the
individual to the state. This requires unlimited growth of
government. One major reason for Hitler's success was that
considerable collectivization had already taken place in the form of
government control over unions, businesses, and other aspects of
German life.
Hitler's maniacal racism was not as successful as he would have
liked because the state machinery was not without its defects. Jews
changed their names and otherwise disappeared. But if Hitler had
an agency like our Internal Revenue Service with its massive
detailed information on all of us, Jewish extermination might have
been complete.
Since World War II, there have been calls for bigger government,
more controls, and abrogation of private property rights in America.
Even if you take tiny steps in a direction, one day you'll get
there (Williams, “Socialism was the Father of the
Holocaust”).
