ON JUST TAXATION

 Dear S. W.                                                                                                   March 16, 1991

...I am not against legitimate taxation to support the legitimate role of government, for as Aristotle said, "Government comes into being that a man may live." I am not an anarchist, and do not advocate a society without laws.

Allow me to comment on your statement in which you said, "I quite agree with you that we are to disobey when government commands us to do something wrong" (Acts 5:29). When, therefore, the government "commands" us to pay taxes for the support of homosexuality and the murder of children, do you not think this is wrong? I know you do. I think you have given this position a quick once over. I have lived with this issue for 7 years.

I do not pretend to have all the answers, but my conscience troubles me constantly over it, although on account of our graduated income tax I do not make enough to pay. I turn everything back into the Gospel ...

Let me close for now as I am deluged with correspondence much of which requires personal attention. Already this morning, I have written a Presbyterian pastor who believes the Roman Catholic church began at the Council of Trent, and to another who espouses the preterist position in eschatology. I must now write one who espouses the doctrine of conditional immortality, otherwise known as the sleep of the dead. Must go.

ON UNJUST TAXATION

Dear D. B.                                                                                                  December 25, 1990

...I trust the Lord will be glorified by The Angelus for many years to come, and if I have caused some to awaken to the dilemma we face, I praise the Lord. This is no time to be timorous when iniquity is multiplying on every hand.

It may be the Lord has given you more wisdom in the area of taxation than He has given to me, so allow me some observations and some questions that have caused me deep soul-searching...

First, I am not a "covenant theologian," but I do want to be a God-honoring one. When Rome discarded unwanted babies, the early Christians rescued them. Today, Christians fund their murder by voluntarily paying their taxes.

Consider the fact that we are not living under a Roman tyrant: ours is by God's grace, a representative government. Our laws are based upon voluntary and not forced compliance. We are free men, or so we claim. Now, can I voluntarily fund the deliberate murder of the unborn? and, what about homosexual "rights," or art depicting Christ in a bottle of urine? If I can, am I honoring God? Am I not rather honoring men above God?

Second, it is true that Rome was a wicked government, but when did it ever tax people to butcher its children? or to promote sodomy? Third, when early Christians were called upon to blaspheme Christ, they willingly went to their deaths, but in this Laodicean age, Christians voluntarily fund Mapplethorpe's art, etc. with the taxes they voluntarily pay. Free men are taxable only with their consent, and until only a few years ago, the Internal Revenue manual freely admitted it.

Let me say here that I file my tax forms ...Now, I do not know your eschatological views, and it is this that influences so many of our decisions. For instance, do you believe we are living in the end times? I do, and Scripture says this age would be a lukewarm, or convictionless age. Is this not so?

Jesus paid a poll tax to maintain the Temple, but socialism is the religion of antichrists. It was not until we embraced it that we were ready to accept Social Security, a welfare system that promotes unrighteousness, and public funding of internationalism that is shaping the "New World Order." Who would have ever suspected that Christians—the people of God, would be used to build the kingdom of Antichrist! The Devil could not be better pleased to have Christians preach a Gospel that has no application outside the doors of the church. How satisfied he is to have us preach a gospel that enables us to willingly fund the oppression, murder and the damnation of souls!

Dear J. P.                                                                                                     December 3, 1993

...You ask, "If my allegations are in fact true, please let me know what you and I can do about this immoral fiasco that has outlawed the Bible and prayer in schools causing severe degradation of morals in this country."

First, cease to willingly pay the taxes which support our own destruction such as the National Endowments for the Arts, the National Education Association, etc. This can be done by taking all the tax credit advantages available.

Second, another way is to openly refuse to support treason. This will result in losing any property you own. Therefore, so-called "free" men cannot own anything.
