TO ONE WHO DENIES PRESENT-DAY JEWS ARE THE
ISRAELITES OF OLD
Dear E. H.
February 18, 1989
...Several people have
written to me to say that those people who proclaim themselves
to be Abraham's seed, and acknowledged that they were never in
bondage to any man, could not therefore have been the Israel of
the Exodus.
Although the Bible is inerrant and
infallible, being the divinely-inspired Word of God, and not the
mere contrivances of men, not everything in the Bible is true.
Satan is a liar, and when in the body of the serpent he told Eve
"Thou shalt not surely die" it was not true, but was a lie. The
fact that the Jews are comprised of a strong sense of
nationalism, and refused to accept their state of bondage does
not mean they were never in bondage.
Abraham is the father of the
faithful (Romans 4:11). In Romans 4:1, the Apostle Paul called
Abraham "our father," and in verse 16, he says Abraham is the
"father of us all." Paul, therefore, identified himself with
these people, and neither he nor Jesus ever gave in to such a
notion as there were two peoples here. In fact, in I Corinthians
10:1, Paul declares, "how that all our fathers were under the
cloud, and all passed through the sea;" "for they drank of that
spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ"
(vs. 4).
Paul identified himself as "a Jew of
Tarsus" (Acts 21:39); and the woman of Samaria recognized Jesus
as a "Jew" (John 4:9).
It is a very serious thing to
manhandle the Word of Almighty God. Yet, many wrest the
Scriptures in order to make God's Word to read like they want it
to read, but they do it to their own destruction (II Peter
3:16). Peter calls them unlearned and unstable. I am reminded of
the words of Martin Luther who said, "Whom God intends to
destroy, He gives leave to play with Scripture." Must go. Thank
you for writing.
TO ONE WHO BELIEVES THE JEWISH NATION WAS
FOREVER DESTROYED
Dear D. W.
January 27, 1988
...Regarding the notion
that the Jewish nation was forever destroyed, I would refer you
to the words of the Apostle Paul who wrote, "Hath God cast away
his people which he foreknew? God forbid. For I also am an
Israelite, of the seed of Benjamin" (Romans 14:1). Just in case
there should arise some who would attempt to make a distinction
between one being of "Israel," and one being a "Jew," the
Apostle Paul identifies himself as being a Jew, in Acts 21:39;
an Israelite, in II Corinthians 11:22; and an Hebrew, in
Philippians 3:5. To assume the posture you have taken, that the
Jewish nation is forever destroyed compromises the well-known
vision of the dry bones the prophet Ezekiel saw, and recorded
(chapter 37).
OF THE JEWISH HOLOCAUST
Dear J. S.
August 19, 1987
There are people who do their
best to repudiate the fact of the Jewish holocaust. Their
arguments are based largely upon the lack of German records, but
this is a silly argument at best. It was a well-documented fact
that the Nazis destroyed documents to keep them from falling
into the hands of their enemies.
When Stalin murdered
30,000,000 Russians in order to subdue that land under
Communism; and Mao tse Tung likely butchered 50,000,000 Chinese
in order to bring China under Communist rule; and Pol Pot, the
Khmer Rouge, murdered 3,000,000 Cambodians out of a population
of 7,000,000; it seems silly to argue that the Nazis butchered
6,000,000 Jews. However, this is not the whole truth. We hear of
the 6,000,000 atrocities by Hitler's demonic outrage, but almost
nothing of the total atrocities which numbered around 15,000,000
people—9,000,000 other than Jews which included Christians such
as Lutherans, Orthodox Serbs, etc.
Humanly speaking, it must be as
wrong to brutalize a Christian as it is a Jew; and the
butchering of but one person, whether Jew or Christian, Polish
or Chinese, is a crime so colossal that only God is able to
judge it. Our country has become more sympathetic to Jews than
to Christians. My heart bleeds for all such victims.
OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE
Dear P. K.
August 31, 1987
...It is the folly of children
not to be able to bear criticism, but, but when a people cannot
bear criticism, they must be very immature and insecure.
In all kindness, the Jewish people
brought upon themselves the curse of God when they demanded
Christ be crucified, and cried out, "His blood be upon us and
our children forever" (Matthew 27:25). But, the day will come
when they shall look upon Him whom they have pierced, and shall
mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son (Zechariah 12:10).
"May God Smile On You." —Bach
Dear J. S.
October 21, 1987
...The fact that Jews deny the
divinity of Christ does not necessarily mean that all Jews are
bent on the destruction of Christianity. The fact that the High
Priest and elders of Israel called upon the Roman Governor to
allow Christ to be crucified does not anger me toward their
children's children.
Jesus Himself said, "He that
is not with me is against me" (Matthew 12:30). Yet, David points
out the fact that God makes a distinction between unbelievers,
or sinners, and "workers of iniquity" (Psalm 5:5; also, ll:5);
so, like David, godly people, hate them who hate the Lord (Psalm
139:21,22).
Much to the shame of all true
Christians, it must be admitted that at various times in history
there have been Christians who lashed out in persecutions of the
Jews. While no one ought to defend their actions, they were
nonetheless the children of the age of persecution. But, neither
should it be ignored that it was the Jews, not the Romans, who
first persecuted Christians.
If, as you state, the persecution of
Jews by Christians had begun by the time The Talmud was
completed, why would you not expect that Jews would hide their
anti-Christian sentiments both by legends and by aliases? The
Jewish Encyclopedia exegetes the passages I have given, in
the vein that I have given them. (Reader, see the following
letter).
I harbor no hatred for the Jewish
people. I am not your enemy; neither do I hate you. I would be
glad to have the opportunity to do you good, or anyone else for
that matter.
