The Apostle John found a faithful man in Polycarp. Polycarp, in turn,
found a faithful man in Pothinus who became bishop of Lyons, in France.
During the Decian persecution, the feeble, ninety-year-old preacher
remained intrepid even after his frail body suffered abuse at the hands
of the inhabitants. The mob surrounded him, the people cried out, "Who
is the God of the Christians?"
Pothinus calmly replied, 'Were you worthy, you would know."
In two days, he died in prison on account of his harsh treatment.
"The things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same
commit thou to Faithful men who shall be able to teach others also."
