When Henry VIII divorced Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne Boleyn, Bishop Hugh Latimer wrapped a copy of the Scriptures and sent it to the king with the inscription:

"Whoremongers and Adulterers God will judge."

"WHOREMONGERS AND ADULTERERS GOD WILL JUDGE."

-Hebrews 13:4-

While Hollywood producers and Televisions network may glamorize whoredom, and while the general public may tolerate harlotry, let it be known to you, that "Marriage is honorable, and the bed undefiled: but Whoremongers and Adulterers God will judge."

While Radio statons air bawdy songs, and while businessmen advertize in a vein more fitting a womanizer than for a good man who is jealous for his Purity, his Integrity, and his Honor, let it be known that as surely as there is a God in Heaven, so he will judge Whoremongers and Adulterers.

While people are willing to sell pornographic-books and magazines under the lecherous excuse, "You have to make a living," be it known to you that "neither Fornicators...nor Adulterers, nor Effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind...shall inherit the Kingdom of God." And, they who sell such salacious material will answer to God for it. -- (I Corinthians 6:9)

Since the Lord "looketh on the heart", and "whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart", so he who would seduce another into merely THINKING uncleanness, is not blameless, but will most certainly stand before the Judge of all the earth -- whether it be the Depraved advertiser, or the young lady whose parents allow her to dress as though she were a harlot. -- (I Samuel 16:7; Matthew 5:28)

The body is not For Fornication, but for the Lord. No one has e claim to it but its Maker. Shall I then take the members God has given me and make them members of a harlot? God forbid. How can I do this great Wickedness and sin against God? -- (I Corinthians 6:13b, 15; Genesis 39:9b)

Reader, God commands you to "Flee Fornication!" and forbids you to keep "company with fornicators." "Repent, therefore, of this your Wickedness, and pray God if PERHAPS the THOUGHT of your heart may be forgiven you." "Cease to do Evil; Learn to do Well." For be well assured that if you do not repent and set your affections on the Lord Jesus Christ and seek His forgiveness for your sins, His Judgment waits at your door. --(I Corinthians 6:18a; 5:9; Acts 8:22; Isaiah 1:16c, 17a)

OCTOBER

28, 1628 --France. Cardinal Richelieu dominating the influence of the French king and deeming it essential to the unity and power of France to annihilate the Protestants as a political party, has advised the attack of Rochelle the headquarters of the Huguenots, and regarded as the citadel of Protestantism in France. The inhabitants of Rochelle have bravely defended themselves against the French army for more than a year enduring great privations. But their resistance has been in vain.

England incensed at France’s treatment of her Protestant subjects has urged Charles I to send help to the besieged, but when the fleet lands, on the Isle of Rhe off Rochelle, and under the command of the Duke of Buckingham, it is driven back with a great slaughter. He returns to England carrying a disgraced flag and a murmuring fleet.

A second fleet has sailed under the command of the Earl of Lindsey who though they catch sight of Rochelle, they do not attempt a landing and return to England. It is quite possible Charles never intended Rochelle should be spared seeing his Queen Henrietta Maria is the sister of the French king.

Today, Cardinal Richelieu will ride into Rochelle by the king’s side, in velvet and cuirass at the head of the royal army: and after proceeding to the Church of St. Margaret, he performs high mass in celebration of his victory.

28, 1887 --England. Charles Haddon Spurgeon withdraws from the Baptist Union because "Believers in Christ’s atonement are now declared union with those who make light of it; believers in Holy Scripture are in confederacy with those who decry plenary inspiration; those who believe in evangelical doctrine are in open alliance with those who call the Fall a fable, who deny the personality of the Holy Ghost, who call Justification by Faith inward, and hold that there is another Probation

after death...yes, we have before us the wretched spectacle of professedly orthodox Christians publicly avowing their union with those who deny the faith and scarcely concealing their contempt for those who cannot be guilty of such gross disloyalty to Christ. To be very plain, we are unable to call these things "Christian unions;" they begin to look like confederacies in evil...It is our solemn conviction that where there can be no real spiritual communion, there should be no pretense of fellowship. Fellowship with known and vital error is participation in sin."

31, 1517 --Germany. This evening, Martin Luther will nail his 95 Theses to the Church door at Wittemburg calling into question the Pope’s abuse of the people’s faith.

"The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power..."

"Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men..."

(II Thessalonians 1:7-9, II Corinthians 5:ll)

" ...Time makes ancient Good ’Uncouth.’

Then to side with Truth is noble, when we share her wretched crust;

Ere her cause bring fame and profit and ‘tis Prosperous to be Just;

Then it is the brave man chooses, while the coward stands aside,

Till the multitude make virtue of the faith they had denied.

Though the cause of Evil Prosper, yet the Truth alone is strong;

Though her portion be the Scaffold, and upon the Throne be wrong;

Yet that Scaffold sways the future, and behind the dim Unknown,

Standeth God within the Shadow keeping watch above His own."
