-8- God Hath Spoken THE ONTOLOGICAL ARGUMENT Fourth, the ONTOLOGICAL ARGUMENT teaches the existence of God from the idea of God. If we can conceive that there is a god, it is itself an argument for His existence. The Ontological argument is the argument from being. THE ETHNOLOGICAL ARGUMENT Fifth, is the ETHNOLOGICAL ARGUMENT, also known as the Historical Argument. It is based on that which distinguishes man from the animals—his religious nature. Animals do not worship. It was this fact that caused headaches for Charles Darwin. Dogs do not pray; neither do pigs conduct worship services. Why, then, does man worship? If the existence of God can be successfully denied, the reason for worship is shipwrecked, and man can be considered to be no different than the animals. But man is not an animal: he was created in the image of God; and it is his religious nature that argues strongly for the existence of God. THE CONGRUITY ARGUMENT Last, is the CONGRUITY ARGUMENT. As an illustration, according to professor Flint in his book The Astronomy of The Bible, there are millions of solar systems, and each is doing what if unchecked would destroy the whole. He goes on to say that the planets and moons are all balanced as to weight, mass, plane and distance so that the whole is stable. As we are told in Genesis 8:22, seedtime and harvest never fail. Cold and heat, day and night are so regular that we can consult the meteorologist as to when the moon shall wax and wane, and when the tides will ebb and flow. The only things we can know about God, however, must be revealed to us by God. This is known as divine revelation. _____________________________
