Has God ever Taught You?

Of Whom the World was not Worthy

"If After Kirk, Ye Abide a Wee..."

William Law on Worldliness

ANNIVERSARY EDITION                              BEGINNING OUR NINTH YEAR

HA$ GOD EVER TAUGHT YOU?

Reader, Has God Ever Taught You the Difference between Real Wealth and Temporal Wealth? Has He Ever Taught You how you are to accrue it and what you are to do with it? Has He Ever Taught You that that True Riches cannot Rust, nor can Real Wealth be Stolen? What must one day be parted with cannot be really Valuable. (Matthew 6:19,20)

Has God in His Infinite Mercy Ever Taught You how to accrue Real Wealth? Worldly Possessions cannot be kept. They are daily subject to Devaluation, Fire, Theft, and a multitude of other perils. Therefore, the ONLY way to "lay up" worldly possessions is to remove them out of this temporal, perishing world. To do this, they must be gladly given in the name of the Lord.

"What mean ye by this waste!" was the cry of the materially minded when Mary Magdalene broke her box of spikenard, "very precious," and poured it upon the head of her Lord. "He is no fool," said James Hudson Taylor, "who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose!" THIS ONLY IS SOUND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT!

Has God Ever Pointed out to You the many cares they subject themselves to who pursue "mammon?" Oh, the Pride and Selfishness of such a life! Such people "pierce themselves through with many sorrows." (I Timothy 6:10) Worry plagues them.

Has God in His great Bounty Taught You to acknowledge True Ownership? What do you have that does not come from God? Is not everything you have but a talent committed to your care? And, will you not be required as any steward to give account to Him for all these things?

Has God Ever Taught You to set your Affections on "things above," and "not on things on earth?" (Colossians 3:2) Has He Taught You as well the Reason you are to do so? –that "where your treasure is there will your heart be also?" (Matthew 6:21) Then BEWARE OF THE CONTAMINATION OF YOUR AFFECTIONS BY YOUR POSSESSIONS. Instead, "Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord," for "your labor is not in vain in the Lord." "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love which you have showed toward His name in that you have ministered to the saints and do minister." (I Corinthians 15:58; Hebrews 6:lO)

While the Materialist is assessed by Divine Wisdom to be a "Fool" (Luke 12:15-21), has God Ever been pleased to Teach You that a man’s comfort and Happiness do not depend upon what he possesses? God has graciously ordained that even a poor man may be a happy man.

Has God Ever Taught You to wall: by Faith and not by Sight? The Materialist makes three grave mistakes. First, when he labors for the "meat that perishes" (John 6:27), he mistakes his body for his Soul. Second, when he lays all the eggs of his earthly labor in the basket of Time, he mistakes Time for Eternity. And, Third, when he lays his plans as though he is assured of many more years, but finds no place for God in them, he mistakes himself for God. He and they who are like him, believe that "Gain is Godliness," and like profane Esau before them, they barter Eternal Prosperity for Temporal Prosperity. "So it is with everyone who makes this life their concern, and are not Rich toward God." (Luke 12:21)

Has God Ever Taught You NOT to labor for the "gold that perishes," but to labor to be "Rich in Faith?" "Rich in Good Works?" "Rich in Wisdom?" "Rich in Grace?" (James 2:5; I Timothy 6:18)

"OF WHOM THE WORLD WAS NOT WORTHY"

At last, after nine years of research, "Of Whom the World was not Worthy" is ready for the press. This is a single-spaced, 500-page book of Dates the intention of which is to bring again to light those portions of history that have been culled by Humanistic educators, encyclopedists and modernists.

It presents histories of denominations as well as stories of hymns; laws passed for as well as against the Church; lives of Christians as well as of their persecutors, composers, scientists,

statesmen as well as preachers. All is arranged as they occurred on each day of the year.

It is designed to present enough information to excite the scholar, and in a manner that is interesting enough to engross the layman. It presents a Christian philosophy of History and of Government. In addition to a 70-page Index, it includes a wealth of Scripture to instruct and warn, to encourage and to comfort the man of God.

After reviewing the manuscript, Mr. David Gordon of Christian Discount Book Center in Grand Rapids --the largest Christian book distributors in the country --wrote, "It is not difficult to see its value. Upon publication we would be interested in a quantity purchase." However, even with this knowledge, Baker Book House, Zondervan Publishing Company, Mott Media, Moody Press, and Good News Publishers have turned down the manuscript. Judging from Mr. Gordon’s letter, it would appear as though the book is saleable, and therefore it makes us wonder whether the book was refused on account of certain controversial material contained in the book.

Therefore we have turned to our only alternative: to publish it ourselves through Dorrance and Company. The publication will cost between $17,000 and $25,000. (See insert)

It is not for personal gain that we desire to have this work published but for the Cause of God and Truth. The publisher is writing to hear from us whether to begin work or to return the manuscript.

Since we have no means at all to embark on this venture, we are presenting our situation to you. We have chosen to place the fate of our manuscript in your hands as the people of God. If you do not think it a worthwhile endeavor, we will accept it as the will of God.

Please let us hear from you --Now.

"’They are not of the world even as I am not of the world.’ This is the state of Christianity with regard to this world. If you are not thus out of and contrary to this world, lack the distinguishing mark of Christianity. We may deceive ourselves with vain and softening comments upon these words, but they are understood in their first simplicity and plainness by everyone who reads them in the same spirit that our blessed Lord spoke them."
