Observations on Creation--Part III

This Month in History

* King John forced to sign the Magna Carta

*American Seal adopted which contains the "Eye of God"

"The king is but a servant to execute the law of God and not to rule after his own imagination. He is brought to the throne to minister unto and to secure his brethren, and must not think that his subjects were made to minister unto his lusts."

-William Tyndale

SOME OBSERVATIONS ON THE CREATION

Part Three—"The Creation of Man"

IN THE IMAGE OF GOD --"And God said, ’Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." --Genesis 1:26

Man was created in the "Image of God". The word "stlem" refers to the "outward image", and as such man was created in the NATURAL IMAGE of God for he is created "Immortal", he was created in the POLITICAL IMAGE of God for he was created to have "Dominion", and he was created in the MORAL IMAGE of God for he was created in "Righteousness and True Holiness."

Man was also created after the "Likeness of God", the word "d’muth" meaning "Inward like-ness," for man was created with Knowledge. Adam was brilliant, for when God brought every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air to see what Adam would call them: "whatever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof." --Genesis 2:19

THE SOUL OF MAN --"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." –Genesis 2:7

The word "Breath" of life, or "neshamah", actually includes the elements of personality: INTELLECT--Genesis 2:19, EMOTION --"And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed," --Genesis 2:25; and VOLITION --Genesis 2:19.

"And man became a living SOUL." Since God is Tri-une (three in one), so man is tri-partite because he is created in the "image of God." Man is created with a BODY that is "world-conscious", a SPIRIT that is "God-conscious", and a SOUL that is "self-conscious." To develop man’s Physical life, "the Lord God commanded the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat..." --Genesis 2:16. To develop man’s Spiritual life, "out of the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food the tree of Life also in the midst of the garden..." --Genesis 2:9. Man’s spiritual life was developed through FAITH, for as often as he would he might take of the tree of Life and eat and live forever.

To develop the Moral life in the soul of man, God provided the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. --Genesis 2:9. This was exercised by OBEDIENCE, for it was the only tree God refused to Adam.

THE DIGNITY OF MAN, OR MAN’S EXCELLENCE ABOVE THE ANIMALS: There are those who say as did Solomon when he was caught up in Humanism, "I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth so dieth the other; yeah, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above beasts: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward" (mark it, here is the difference), "and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?" Ecclesiastes 3: 18-21.

THE LAW OF GOD --"And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, ’Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." --Genesis 2:16,17

It was God’s Right to be the Lawgiver because He was the CREATOR, the PROVIDER, and the SAVIOUR. And the law he gave was Reasonable: it was Plain --that it might not be mistaken. It was Simple --that it might not perplex, it was Holy --because it was perfect, it was Just because it required no Obedience but what the creature naturally owed, and it was Good –because it lead to the continual good of the creature. "What doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord thy with all thy heart and with all thy soul, to keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day FOR THY GOOD?" --Deuteronomy 10:12.,13

AN HELP--"And the Lord God said, ’It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an HELP... ’" --Genesis 2:18; see verses 20-24

"If God wanted woman to reign over man, He would have taken her out of man’s head; if He wanted woman to be a slave to man, He would have taken her out of man’s feet; but He took her out of man’s side --nearest his heart." --Augustine.

Some Applications from the thought that woman was created to be an HELP:

1. If she was created to be an "Help", then she was created for man. Note: "For man is the glory of God... the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man." --I Corinthians 11:7-9

2. If she derived her being from man, then --

A. She is to be in Subjection to the man --I Timothy 2:11 --

1.) To learn in Silence "with all subjection",

2.) Not to teach a man, nor to USURP authority over a man but to be in "silence" --

A.) because Adam was first formed, then Eve,

B.) because "the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

B. Then shall a man leave his mother and father and shall --

1.) CLEAVE ("be firmly cemented to") his wife;

2.) Therefore, they are no more two (2), but one (1) flesh, and "what hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

Note: This makes DIVORCE unlawful except for "fornication-- Matthew 5:32), and for "desertion" --(I Corinthians 7:15)
