LORD OF GLORY

-Richard Holden-

Tune: "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee"

Lord of Glory, we adore Thee!

Christ of God, ascended high!

Heart and soul we bow before Thee,

Glorious now beyond the sky;

Thee we worship, Thee we praise--

Excellent in all Thy ways.

Lord of Glory, we adore Thee!

Christ of God, ascended high!

Anointed King, with glory crowned,

Rightful Heir and Lord of all!

Once rejected, scorned, disowned,

E’en by those Thou cam’st to call;

Thee we honour, Thee adore--

Glorious now and evermore.

Anointed King, with glory crowned,

Rightful Heir and Lord of all!

Lord of Life! to death once subject;

Blesser, yet a curse was made;

Of Thy Father’s heart the object,

Yet in depths of anguish laid;

Thee we gaze on, Thee recall--

Bearing here our sorrows all.

Lord of Life! to death once subject;

Blesser, yet a curse was made.

Royal robes shall soon invest Thee,

Royal splendours crown Thy brow;

Christ of God, our souls confess Thee

King and Sovereign even now!

Thee we reverence, Thee obey--

Own Thee Lord and Christ alway.

Royal robes shall soon invest Thee,

Royal splendours crown Thy brow.

 "REPENT ye therefore, and be CONVERTED, that your sins may be blotted out..."--Acts 3:19

THE NATURE OF MAN

With the freethinking of today, there is one basic truth Christian people need to keep in mind: man is basically sinful.

Philosophy in general declares man to be basically good. Socrates taught that if a man knew right and wrong, he would naturally turn to the right. THIS IS THE ESSENTIAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEATHEN PHILOSOPHY AND CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY.

If we accept the doctrine of the Bible that man is basically evil, our entire thinking is changed. For instance, we will pour out our soul to the Saviour so that He will instill wisdom and understanding in the hearts of our country’s leaders not to disarm our land!

If we believe man is basically sinful, we will not want our children taught in an educational system that refuses to teach that morality which is based upon the moral law of God and which is inscribed upon the hearts of all men.

If we accept this premise, we will recognize criminality in men is a spiritual problem and not an environmental one. Therefore, we will seek their conversion to God rather than their rehabilitation to society.

If we believe man is basically sinful, we will even be careful in what we dress and in what we do not dress.

This single doctrine separates the doctrine of man and the doctrine of God.
