THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST

"God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of Heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; neither is worshipped with men’s hands as though He needed any thing, seeing He giveth to all life, and breath, and al things." (Acts 17:24,25)

" Thine, 0 Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Thine; Thine is the Kingdom, 0 Lord, and Thou art exalted as Head above all." (I Chronicles 29:11)

"The Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is His also. The sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry land." (Psalm 95:3-5)

"The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine," saith the Lord of Hosts." (Haggai 2:8)

" ...Whatsoever is under the whole Heaven is Mine." (Job 41:1lb)

"Every beast of the Forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills." (Psalm 50:1O)

"In (His) hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind" (Job 12:10)

LORD OF CREATION

"The Lord hath His way in the whirlwind and in the storm."

(Nahum l:3b)

"The Lord sitteth upon the flood." (Psalm 29:10)

William Cowper asserts,

He plants His footsteps in the sea,

And rides upon the storm.

He is Lord of famine, and of rain; of draught, and of fungus; of insects, and of diseases; for He said to Israel, "I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the Lord. And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there was yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece where-upon it rained not withered. So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they ware not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the Lord.

"I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the Lord.

"I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the Lord. " (Amos 4:6-10

He sent hornets before His people to drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites (Exodus 23:28); but when Israel rebelled, the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and they "bit the people; and much people died." (Numbers 21:6) He spoke through Balaam’s ass (Numbers 22:28-30), and prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah (1:17). He sent an evil spirit vex King Saul, and sent a lying spirit to occasion the fall of King Ahab. (I Samuel 16:23; II Chronicles 18:18-21) "All of God’s creatures are at His check and beck." (Thomas Watson)

LORD OF EVERY MAN AND NATION

"I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto Me." (Jeremiah 27:5)

"Both riches and honor come of Thee, and Thou reignest over all; and in Thine hand it in to make great, and to give strength unto all."

(I Chronicles 29:12)

"The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all." (Proverbs 22:2)

"The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: He bringeth down to the grave and bringeth up." (I Samuel 2:6)

"Who hath made man’s mouth? Or Who maketh the dumb or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I the Lord?" (Exodus 4:11)

With Him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are His." (Job 12:16)

"Behold I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy." (Isaiah 54:16)

"The king’s heart is in the hands of the Lord, as the rivers of water: He turneth it whithersoever He will." (Proverbs 21:1)

"The kingdom is the Lord’s: and He is the Governor among the nations." (Psalm 22:28)

"He changeth the times and the seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding." (Daniel 2:21)

"At the end of twelve months he walked in the place of the kingdom of Babylon. The king spake, and said, is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?

"While the word was in the king’s mouth there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; the kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whosoever He will.

The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High and I praised and honored Him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay His had, or say unto Him, What doest Thou?

"At the some time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honor and brightness returned unto me; and my counselors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

"Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of Heaven, all whose works are truth and His ways Judgment: and those that walk in pride He is able to abase." (Daniel 4:29-37)

"Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?"

(Amos 3:6)

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." (Isaiah 45:7)

"The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord." (Proverbs 21:31)

Applications

"The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble." (Psalm 99:1)

"Our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased." (Psalm 115:3)

"Is it not lawful for Me to do what I will with Mine own?" (Matthew 20:15)

"As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God." (Romans 14:11)

Since He is Lord of Creation, and Lord of every man and nation, Jesus Christ is Lord also of His enemies, and He is able to reach them where He pleases, when He pleases and how He pleases.

"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:5-11)
